Physical Land Suitability Assessment for Tea Cultivation Using GIS-Based Multi-Criteria Approach at Dabus Basin of Oromia Region, Southwest Ethiopia

Tea is economically important export commodity for Ethiopia Predicting the physical land suitability of tea vital to avoid a sightless expansion plantations and significant recognize potential suitable area disseminate in country. Land analysis pre-request assigning specific purposes. The study incorporate applications Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) allocate weights criteria that influence plant's growth produce predictive map its cultivation. Topography, Soils, climatic use features were included process as an contributing factor growth. Each evaluations layers classified into four class not suitable, less highly suitable. results indicated influential factors affecting cultivation evaluation Rainfall (23.9%) followed by soils pH (18.05%) Elevation (12.72%), (10.79%), Aspect (9.07%), texture (6.96%), Slope (6.43), Depth (5.25%) temperature (3.42%) drainage respectively with 8.23% consistency index. revealed moderately occupied largest proportion (84.92%), (11.42%) unsuitable (3.66%). precipitation, soil reaction, Altitude, current identified main limiting productions.
